D&D Note (3.5.2018) ~ Ryan Eases Trade War Fears, DOW Rallies 336 Points ~
Today House Speaker Paul Ryan weighed in on the new proposed tariff’s saying he was “extremely worried” about the trade plan. This counterweight relieved fears of an accelerating trade war and the DOW ripped 336 points on the session.
Specifically stocks that would potentially be hurt in retaliation trade policy gained on the day including CAT and HOG.
All eyes will be on the upcoming Friday jobs number to see if we continue to see the rise in wages that was seen in last months report sparking the recent correction.
No sector fell on the day and Oil along with Brent saw strong bids gaining over 2% on WTI and 1.8% on sweet crude.
Crypto currencies continue to rally with Bitcoin at $11,579. Pot Stocks also continued their rally today with IMLFF gaining 22.73%.
The 10YR gained on the day to yield 2.883%. It’s good to see equities gain on a day when the 10YR yield rises, however we still need to see market action when the yield passes 2.9%. So far 2.9% continues to be a sell signal while 2.8% is a buy signal.
D&D will continue to look for opportunities to sell into this rally ahead of Friday. We also will be keeping our powder dry ahead of more volatility.
